Summer 2027: school break dates
The summer break is the longest school holiday of the year and the biggest travel window for UAE families. Most schools close in the first days of July and reopen at the end of August, but each curriculum sets its own dates, and Indian-curriculum schools often break earlier. Check your school's calendar before you book, because a single day can change the fare.

Many families use the first weeks of the break to fly home to India, Pakistan, the Philippines or elsewhere, then add a short holiday on the way back. We book both on one itinerary, so a change to one flight does not break the other. See our Abu Dhabi to India flights for the route we ticket most.
Most families do not travel for the whole break. Two to three weeks is typical, often split between a trip home and a holiday somewhere new.

Cooler destinations: Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Europe
Cool is relative. Tbilisi, Yerevan and Almaty can still be hot at midday in July, but evenings are pleasant and the mountains an hour or two away are fresh and green. The trick is to base part of the trip at altitude or by a lake, not only in the capital.

Georgia is the summer trip we book most for families: green valleys, long days and a short flight. Our Georgia tour package covers Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Kakheti, with Batumi for a beach week. Long family stays and apartments
Two or three weeks in hotels adds up, and children get tired of eating out every night. For longer summer stays we often book serviced apartments or a holiday flat for part of the trip, with a hotel for the first and last nights near the airport.
Checklist
- Two or more bedrooms, so younger children can nap while others go out
- A kitchen and a washing machine for trips of a week or more
- Air conditioning, which is not standard in all Caucasus or European flats
- A lift and step-free access if you travel with a pram or older parents
- A car or driver for the days you leave the city
- Travel insurance that covers every person for the whole stay

Days 1 to 5: Tbilisi apartment
Old town walks, the cable car to Narikala, the botanical garden and an easy day out to Mtskheta. Cook some nights, eat out others.

Days 10 to 12: Kakheti or Borjomi
Vineyard villages and Sighnaghi, or the forest park and mineral springs at Borjomi, at a slower pace.

Days 13 to 14: Back to Tbilisi and home
A last night near the city for shopping and an easy run to the airport.
A good pattern for a long stay is one base in the city and one in the mountains or by a lake, with a few day trips from each. Moving every night is tiring with children. Booking early: when summer fares rise
Summer fares from the UAE climb from spring onwards. The first weekend of the school break and the last weekend before schools reopen are the most expensive days to fly, because almost every family wants them. Hotels in Georgia, Armenia and Europe fill early too, and family rooms go first.

When is the UAE school summer break in 2027?
Many families travel for two to four weeks, so long-stay packages with apartments often cost less per night than hotels.
Where is cool in summer near the UAE?
Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan have mild mountain summers and are under four hours away. Salalah in Oman has its khareef monsoon season from late June. Europe is warm but much cooler than the Gulf. We match the destination to your dates and budget.
When should I book a summer holiday?
Book between March and May for July and August travel. Fares for the first week of the school break and for Eid al-Adha weekends rise fastest. Booking early also gives time for visas such as Schengen, which slow down in summer.
