Who needs a UK visa from the UAE
Your passport decides whether you need a UK visa, not where you live. We can apply for the ETA for Emirati travellers too.
The UK is not part of the Schengen area. A Schengen visa does not let you enter London, and a UK visa does not cover Paris. If your trip takes in both, you need two visas and two appointments, so plan the order early. We handle the Schengen visa for Europe trips at the same desk, and our Europe holidays including the UK are built so both files match the same dates.

UK visit visa documents checklist
The UK does not publish one fixed list. The officer looks at whether your visit is genuine, whether you can pay for it and whether you will return to the UAE.
Checklist
- Passport valid for the whole trip, plus old passports with earlier UK, US, Schengen or Canada visas if you have them
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, with enough validity left after you return
- Salary certificate or no objection letter showing your job, salary, joining date and approved leave
- Trade licence, memorandum of association and company bank statements if you own a business
- Your trip plan: dates, cities and where you will stay; a hotel booking or your host's address
- Invitation letter for family visits, with your host's passport or UK residence status and address
- A sponsor letter and the sponsor's bank statements if someone else pays for the trip
- Marriage certificate and children's birth certificates for family applications
- A short covering letter that explains anything unusual in your file
A child travelling with one parent usually needs a signed consent letter from the other parent.

What are the requirements for a UK visa from UAE?
You need a valid passport, UAE residence visa, bank statements, salary or business proof, and details of your trip and where you will stay. A clear covering letter helps.
Where is the UK visa application centre in the UAE?

Do UAE nationals need a UK visa?
We can apply for the ETA for you. UAE residents with other passports usually need a visa, which is what most of this page covers.
How long does a UK visa take from Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
