Most tours can be booked as shared or private. On a shared tour you join other guests in the vehicle and follow a fixed timetable, which keeps the price per person low. A private tour gives your group the car and driver to yourselves, a pickup time that suits you and the freedom to stay longer at the places you like. Families with young children, older relatives or a lot of photography to do usually find private tours easier. We show both prices side by side on your quote.

Desert safari: evening, morning and overnight
The desert safari is the classic Abu Dhabi day out. The evening safari picks you up in the afternoon, drives over the dunes for sunset, then ends at a camp with a camel ride, sandboarding, a BBQ dinner and shows. The morning safari is shorter and cooler and has no dinner. The overnight safari adds a night at the camp, and the Liwa trip goes deep into the high dunes of the Empty Quarter.

- 01
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
White marble domes, reflecting pools and one of the largest hand-knotted carpets in the world. Most visitors spend one to two hours here.
- 02
Qasr Al Watan
A working presidential palace that opens its main halls to visitors, with exhibits on how the country is governed and a large library.
- 03
The Corniche
The city's seafront, with a long walking and cycling path, playgrounds and public beaches. Good for an early evening walk when it is cooler.
- 04
Louvre Abu Dhabi
An art museum under a large patterned dome on Saadiyat Island, with works from many periods and cultures. Plan two to three hours.
- 05
Yas Island
Home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, plus Yas Marina Circuit. Each park is a full day on its own.
- 06
Heritage Village
A small open-air museum near Marina Mall showing how people lived on the coast before oil, with craft workshops and a view back to the city skyline.
- 01
Morning: Grand Mosque
Arrive early, when it is cooler and quieter, and allow time for the dress check at the entrance.
- 02
Late morning: Qasr Al Watan
The palace halls take about an hour and a half to see properly.
- 03
Lunch
A break at a restaurant or mall, out of the midday sun.
- 04
Afternoon: Corniche and Heritage Village
Photo stops on the waterfront, then a short walk through Heritage Village.
- 05
Evening: free or add-on
Head back to rest, or add a dhow cruise or the Qasr Al Watan light show.
That is the shape of a typical day on a full-day city tour.
If you only have one day, a city tour with the Grand Mosque and Qasr Al Watan covers the main sights. The theme parks need a day of their own and their own tickets. Plenty of the city is free to enjoy: the Grand Mosque, the Corniche promenade, Heritage Village and the Eastern Mangroves boardwalk cost nothing to visit.
The Grand Mosque has a dress code for all visitors: long, loose clothes covering arms and legs, and a headscarf for women. Bring your own to avoid queues. Full stops, timings and what is included are on our Abu Dhabi city tour page.
04
Dhow cruise on the Abu Dhabi waterfront
A dhow is a traditional wooden boat, and an evening dhow cruise is a relaxed way to see the Abu Dhabi skyline lit up from the water. The cruise sails along the waterfront with dinner on board.
Book a dhow cruise in Abu Dhabi to stay in the capital, or take the dhow cruise dubai at the Marina or on the Creek if you are spending an evening in Dubai.

05
Dubai city tour from Abu Dhabi
Many Abu Dhabi residents and their visitors want a day in Dubai without the driving. You are back in Abu Dhabi in the evening.
The drive is long, so a private car makes more sense for families: you can stop when the children need a break and leave Dubai when you are ready.
Add a Burj Khalifa ticket or end the day on a dinner cruise and you have a full Dubai day. See the stops and timings on our Dubai city tour page.
06
Putting tours together into an Abu Dhabi tourist package
If relatives or friends are visiting for a week, it is easier to book two or three tours at once than one at a time. You get one quote, one point of contact, and pickup times planned so the days do not clash. Here are three sample bundles; we price each one for your dates and group.

- 01
Abu Dhabi in two days
Day one: Abu Dhabi city tour. Day two: evening desert safari.
- 02
Desert, city and sea
City tour, evening desert safari and a dhow cruise on the waterfront, over three days.
- 03
Two cities in a week
Abu Dhabi city tour, Dubai city tour, desert safari and a Yas Island theme park day.
A few tips when you bundle tours. Leave a free day between two long days out, especially with children or older relatives. Do the desert safari after the visitors have settled in, not on the day they land. Keep a theme park day for the middle of the week, when queues are shorter.
