Turkey package prices from the UAE
Turkey is a popular choice from the UAE: the flight is short, Istanbul has more to see than a week allows, and Cappadocia looks like nowhere else. The price depends on the route, the number of nights, the hotel grade, shared or private tours and the month. The table shows starting prices per person, sharing a double room, with return flights from Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

Most of our Turkey trips run on shared tours, called seat-in-coach: you join a small group in a coach or minibus with an English-speaking guide for the touring days, and have the rest of the time free. Private tours, with your own car, driver and guide, cost more but let you set the pace. Families with young children, older parents or groups of four or more often find private tours worth it, because the cost is shared across everyone.

Prices rise sharply in the UAE summer holidays, at Eid and over Christmas and New Year, when Istanbul hotels fill and the Cappadocia balloon flights sell out. April, May, late September and October are usually better value and more comfortable for walking. If your dates are open, check the cheapest tour packages this month before choosing.
- Hotel area: Sultanahmet puts you next to the old city sights; Taksim and Şişli suit shopping and evenings out
- Cave hotels: a cave room in Cappadocia costs more than a standard room but is part of the experience
- Domestic flights: we build the Istanbul to Cappadocia flight into the price, rather than a long road transfer
- Children's prices depend on age, the airline's child fare and each hotel's child policy
02
What the Turkey package includes
A standard Turkey package covers the flights, hotels, the domestic flight between Istanbul and Cappadocia, transfers and the guided tours that make the trip easy. Here is what our Istanbul and Cappadocia packages have included:
Checklist
- Domestic flights from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevşehir and back, or onward to Antalya
- Hotels in your chosen grade with daily breakfast; some Cappadocia stays are on half board
- Airport and intercity transfers
- Istanbul old city tour with lunch: the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar
- A Bosphorus cruise, by day or as a dinner cruise with a show
- North and South Cappadocia tours with lunch
- An English-speaking guide on tour days
Not included unless your quote says so:

- Turkey e-visa or visa fee
- The Cappadocia hot air balloon flight
- Lunches and dinners not named in the itinerary
- Optional tours such as Bursa, the Princes' Islands or a Turkish night show
- Tips for guides and drivers, extra baggage and personal spending
Turkey uses the lira. Cards work in most hotels, restaurants and shops in Istanbul and Antalya. Carry some cash for the Grand Bazaar, small cafes, toilets at sights and tips. Shops often quote in euros or dollars for visitors; paying in lira is usually cheaper.

6-night itinerary: Istanbul and Cappadocia
This plan suits a first visit: four nights in Istanbul to see both the old city and the modern side without rushing, then two in Cappadocia.

- 01
Day 1: Arrive in Istanbul and the Bosphorus
Land at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen, where a driver takes you to the hotel.
- 02
Day 2: The old city
A guided tour of Sultanahmet: the Hippodrome and its obelisks, the Blue Mosque with its tiled interior, Hagia Sophia, and the covered lanes of the Grand Bazaar. Lunch is included. Topkapi Palace can be added at extra cost.
- 03
Day 3: Princes' Islands or Bursa
Choose a ferry to Büyükada, the largest of the Princes' Islands, for wooden mansions and car-free lanes, or a full-day trip to Bursa for the Green Mosque and the cable car up Uludağ.
- 04
Day 4: Galata, Balat and the Spice Bazaar
Walk Istiklal Avenue and see the Galata Tower, then the colourful houses of Balat and the Spice Bazaar for Turkish delight, baklava and dried fruit. The afternoon is free for shopping or a ferry to the Asian side at Kadıköy.
- 05
Day 5: Fly to Cappadocia, North Cappadocia tour
Morning flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir and transfer to your cave hotel. Tour Uçhisar Castle, the Göreme Open-Air Museum with its painted rock churches, Devrent Valley, Paşabağ (Monks' Valley) and a pottery workshop in Avanos.
- 06
Day 6: Balloon at dawn, South Cappadocia tour
An optional hot air balloon flight at sunrise, then the South tour: Red Valley, Pigeon Valley, Çavuşin village and the Kaymaklı underground city, carved deep into the rock. Free evening, or a Turkish night show.
- 07
Day 7: Fly home
Transfer to Kayseri or Nevşehir airport for the flight to Istanbul and your connection to Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
For five nights, we keep three in Istanbul and drop the Galata day. For eight nights, we add Antalya after Cappadocia, described below. We book the balloon for your first Cappadocia morning where possible, so that a flight cancelled for wind can move to the second.
Adding Antalya? Here is how the last days of our 8-night Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya route have run:
- 01
Day 6: Cappadocia to Antalya by road, via Konya
A long but varied drive south. Stop in Konya for the Mevlana Museum, which holds the tomb of the poet Rumi, then Alaaddin Hill and its mosque, with lunch, before continuing over the Taurus Mountains to Antalya.
- 02
Day 7: Antalya city and waterfalls
Lower Düden (Karpuzkaldıran) waterfall where the river drops into the sea, lunch by the falls, then the Kaleiçi old town, the clock tower, Hadrian's Gate from AD 130, and the old harbour lined with boats.
- 03
Day 8: Fly home
Flight from Antalya to Istanbul and your connection to Abu Dhabi or Dubai, or a direct flight to the UAE where one runs that season.
Free time in Istanbul is easy to fill. Take the public ferry from Eminönü to Kadıköy or Üsküdar for a Bosphorus view at the price of a bus ticket. Walk up to the Süleymaniye Mosque for the view over the Golden Horn. See the Basilica Cistern, an underground hall of columns from the Byzantine era, or spend an afternoon at Dolmabahçe Palace on the shore. In the evening, the fish restaurants under the Galata Bridge and the cafes of Karaköy are a short walk from most old city hotels.
In Cappadocia, stay at least one night in a cave hotel. Rooms are cut into the soft rock, cool in summer and warm in winter, and many have terraces where you can watch the balloons rise at dawn without flying. Other optional activities include a sunset ATV ride through the valleys, a horse ride and a pottery class in Avanos, where potters have worked the red river clay for thousands of years.
A few tips for the old city. Mosques close to visitors at prayer times, so tours plan around them. Women need a headscarf and covered arms and legs in mosques; men need long trousers. Queues at Hagia Sophia and Topkapi are longest at midday in summer, which is one reason the tours start early.
04
Adding Antalya, Bursa or Trabzon
Once you have Istanbul and Cappadocia, Turkey has easy additions for a beach, a day trip or green mountains. Each adds a different feel, so choose by season and by who is travelling.

Antalya, 2 to 3 nights
The Mediterranean coast. A city tour takes in the Düden and Karpuzkaldıran waterfalls, the Kaleiçi old town, Hadrian's Gate and the old harbour. Beach season runs from about May to October. Some packages drive from Cappadocia via Konya and the Rumi Mausoleum; others fly.

Cappadocia balloon flight
per person.

Bosphorus dinner cruise
An evening on the water between Europe and Asia, with dinner, unlimited soft drinks and folk, belly dance and whirling dervish shows. Included in most of our Istanbul packages; can be added to any.
Bursa day trip
A ferry across the Sea of Marmara to Yalova, then Bursa: the Green Mosque and Green Tomb, a cable car up Uludağ mountain and the 650-year-old İnkaya plane tree.
Trabzon and Uzungöl, 2 to 3 nights
A short flight from Istanbul to the Black Sea coast. Green hills, tea terraces, the lake village of Uzungöl and the Sümela Monastery on a cliff.
Pamukkale, with its white travertine pools and the ruins of Hierapolis, is a full-day trip from Antalya, and appears in our Istanbul and Antalya package. For a two-country trip, pair Turkey with our Azerbaijan tour package for Baku, or with our Egypt tour package for Cairo and the pyramids. If you want to keep going west, see our Europe tour packages from UAE.
05
Turkey for families and couples
Turkey is easy for Muslim families from the UAE. Halal food is the norm, mosques are everywhere, and the call to prayer is part of the day. Children usually enjoy the ferries, the balloon morning (from a set age) and the underground city more than the museums, so plan one main sight a day and leave time for ice cream on the waterfront.
Checklist
- Halal food: almost all restaurants in Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya serve halal meat; ask before ordering at international hotel bars and restaurants
- Family rooms: book family rooms or connecting rooms early for the summer and Eid
- Private transfers: worth it with luggage and small children
- Pushchairs: hard on Istanbul's hills and cobbles; a baby carrier helps in the old city
- Kids' and family discounts: our Google profile lists them, and we apply them where the hotel or airline allows
Shopping is part of most family trips. The Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar are good for Turkish delight, tea, spices, lamps and ceramics; bargaining is expected. For clothes and brands, Istinye Park, Cevahir and the shops along Istiklal Avenue are easier with children, with food courts and prayer rooms. Leave space in your luggage, or add extra baggage when we book the flights home.

For couples, the same route works with different hotels: a boutique hotel with a Bosphorus view in Istanbul, a cave suite in Cappadocia, and a private balloon basket or a sunrise photo shoot. Couples who want a beach finish usually add Antalya; those who want quiet add a night in a smaller Cappadocia village such as Ürgüp.
Summer is the main family season for Turkey, when the weather is warm and the days are long. For more trips planned around children and school holidays, see our family tours from Abu Dhabi.

Visa for Turkey: what UAE residents need
Turkey's entry rules depend on your passport. Some nationalities enter without a visa, many apply for a Turkey e-visa online before they fly, and some UAE residents qualify for the e-visa only when they also hold a valid visa or residence permit from certain other countries.

Flights from Abu Dhabi to Istanbul
The Abu Dhabi to Turkey flight takes around four and a half hours to Istanbul. Our recent packages used flydubai from Dubai, with 20 kg of checked baggage.
Istanbul has two airports. Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side is the bigger one and closer to Taksim and the old city by road; Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) on the Asian side is used by many low-cost flights and suits hotels in Kadıköy. We choose the arrival airport to suit your hotel, because the transfer across the city can take over an hour at peak times.
- Morning departures from the UAE give you most of the first afternoon in Istanbul
- Low-cost fares often exclude checked bags and meals; we price both before you compare
- Flying into Istanbul and out of Antalya, or the reverse, saves a day on longer trips

Arrive at the airport three hours before an international flight from Abu Dhabi or Dubai, especially in the summer holidays. On the way home, Istanbul Airport is large and the walk to the gate can take 20 minutes, so allow time after security for duty-free.
Booking the flight inside a package usually costs less than buying flights and hotels separately, and you have one contact if a flight time changes.

When to go
The best months to tour Turkey are April to June and September to October, when Istanbul and Cappadocia are warm but not hot and the light is good for photos. April also brings the tulip season to Istanbul's parks. Summer suits beach trips to Antalya. Winter is cold and quieter, with snow in Cappadocia and on Uludağ.

| Season | Istanbul | Cappadocia | Antalya | Price and crowds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| March to May | Mild, tulips in April | Cool mornings, green valleys | Warming, sea still cool | Mid; busy at Easter and Eid |
| June to August | Hot and busy | Hot days, cool nights | Beach season at its peak | Highest; UAE summer holidays |

| November to February | Cold, rain, short days | Snow on the rocks, very cold dawns | Mild, too cool to swim | Lowest, except Christmas and New Year |
Ramadan changes the rhythm of a trip but does not stop it. Sights stay open, many restaurants serve food during the day for visitors, and the iftar evenings around the Blue Mosque are lively.
Balloons fly all year when the weather allows, but winter has more cancellations for wind and snow. In summer, plan Istanbul walking in the morning and evening, and keep the middle of the day for a cruise, a museum or the hotel pool. Book four to eight weeks ahead for most dates, and earlier for the summer and Eid.

Questions
Turkey trip questions
The questions UAE travellers ask us most about Turkey. Ask yours on WhatsApp, call 02 679 8008 or visit our travel agency in Abu Dhabi at Mushrif Mall.
How much is a 7 days Turkey tour package?
The hot air balloon ride, 5-star hotels and summer dates add to the price.
How much does a 1 week trip to Turkey cost from the UAE?
Budget extra for the balloon flight, the Bosphorus dinner cruise and shopping. Booking the package together usually costs less than separate flights and hotels, and you get one contact if anything changes.
Are there cheap flights from Abu Dhabi to Istanbul?
The flight takes around four and a half hours.
Is the Cappadocia balloon ride included in the package?
The balloon ride is an optional add-on because it depends on the weather and sells out in peak months. We book it for your first Cappadocia morning so a cancelled flight can move to the second.
How many days do I need for Istanbul and Cappadocia?
Plan at least six nights: four in Istanbul for the old city, the Bosphorus and the Asian side, and two in Cappadocia for the valleys, cave towns and a balloon morning. Fly between them rather than driving, as the road takes most of a day. Add Antalya for a beach finish.
